GROGNARDS APRIL 40K RTT
Warhammer 40,000
Tournament
2024-04-06
09:30:00

Come out and join us for our monthly Grognard Games 40k RTT!

We will play 3 rounds of paired games over the course of the day using the Best Coast Pairings app and the GW recommended tournament companion for pairing and scoring method.

If your BCP account uses a different email than your store account, message Derek Glassman with your BCP email at your earliest convenience, and have your list uploaded by at least the Thursday before the event.

Rules of the event will be as follows:

- Current 10th ed Tourney format with all up to date FAQs for 40K

WE WILL BE USING MISSIONS G, I, AND L FROM THE NEW LEVIATHAN TOURNAMENT COMPANION DOCUMENT ( https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/hlF8WKv4gJpXPZha.pdf , https://www.warhammer-community.com/2023/06/30/warhammer-40000-metawatch-storming-into-10th-edition/ )

- We will be using 3 hour rounds with an hour break after round one for lunch.

o If you want to bring and use a chess clock they will be enforced, but make sure you show good sportsmanship and actively help your opponent if they’re unfamiliar with the use of Clocks.

o When round time is up there will be a hard dice down. This means that you will stop rolling dice, activating units, and call the TO over to run through bottom of turn actions in order to resolve the game. If you don't stop and wait for the TO to finalize score with you if your game ends because of time running out, you will be penalized.

We’re here to learn, challenge each other, and have a good day. You’re just as likely to get a reward for being courteous, fair, and friendly as you are for winning the event so keep your behavior in mind.

- Check in is at 9:30AM, first round starts at 10:00AM

- We will be using GW style event terrain as featured in the Leviathan Tournament Companion

- Sensible proxies are allowed but must follow the correct base size for what they’re portraying and should be close to the size of what they represent. If you show up with a proxy that is not the correct base size and is far too big/small for what it is representing you will have to either find an emergency substitute or play without it. If you have concerns about a proxy, ask Derek Glassman on Facebook or the Discord.

- We will be using “scaling” paint scores for Battle Ready Army points (for every unit that is not battle ready, subtract 1 point from the 10 points normally given for a Battle Ready Army)

o https://www.warhammer-community.com/2022/06/28/citadel-colour-just-what-is-battle-ready/

- Direct any questions to Derek Glassman on either the Discord or Facebook ( https://discord.gg/NC2RQgFk99 )

Local food options for the lunch break are diner and a Kabob restaurant in the same strip mall as our location, and nearby fast food places. For the foreseeable future our 'No Food In Store' policy will be applying to all events.

If you need to drop from the event, please message Derek Glassman at least 24 hours beforehand in order to have your entry refunded to your store account.

Awards will be given for the following:

- All undefeated players

- 3rd and 4th place (if player number allows)

- Best painted (selected by a secret committee of Grognardian Jokaero Paintsmiths. Players are ineligible to win this award two consecutive months)

Grognards 40k Casual Paired League

Welcome to our semi-regular Casual 40k League! This swiss-paired weekly league is intended to help onboard newer players into head to head games, scheduling using online community platforms, and introduction to the Grognards 40k Community while also providing a fun experience for all players regardless of experience by utilizing less ‘tourney standard’ rules. Expect to see odd point levels, weird missions, and maybe even a battlefield condition or two!

The league structure is as follows:

·       Each week you will be paired with another person in the league. It is up to you to find a time when you’re both available to meet up and play, and can play at both Grognards locales. This necessitates using the official Grognard Community Discord which you can find by going to our website ( grognardgames.com ) and looking for the link in the top left corner of the screen, using this link ( https://discord.gg/PXstNMefvV ), or through our in-store QR codes for your phone. This is the community resource center and best source of information on getting in contact with other local players, and participating in the league will not function without this vital resource for communication.

o   There is a 40k League channel, posting in there will help you find your opponents and you can always message Derek for help!

o   Pairings for each week will be posted to Best Coast Parirings (more on that later) by Monday night, and you will need to submit your results by Sunday night.

o   If both players are unable to find a time they can meet up they can request a draw result by messaging Derek, the event organizer.

o   If one player fails to reply to all attempts to contact them they will be given a loss and dropped from the event.

o   If extenuating circumstances prevent a player from making their agreed upon game time and they are unable to reschedule, they will be scored as a loss but remain in the event.

·       Each game will be 2000pts (You do not need to use the same list each week, just the same faction) using the Leviathan Mission pack, and each week will be a specific mission set as follows in the format of Primary Mission/Mission Rule/Deployment:

o   Week 1 – Deploy Servo Skulls / Minefields / Hammer and Anvil

o   Week 2 – Take and Hold / Sweep and Clear / Sweeping Engagement

o   Week 3 – Scorched Earth / Hidden Supplies / Dawn of War

o   Week 4 – Sites of Power / Vox Static / Search and Destroy

o   Week 5 – The Ritual / Supply Lines / Crucible of Battle

o   Week 6 – Supply Drop / Scrambler Fields / Dawn of War

§  Take pictures of your games! This is important for one of the league activities!

·       The league will be using Best Coast Pairings ( bestcoastpairings.com ) to organize and record your week to week scores as well as pair you into someone in your same win/loss record. After your game is finished, submit your score through Best Coast Pairings, and notify Derek if you’re having any problems with it (I can input your score manually if necessary).

o   Make sure you have an account on it preferably attached to your Grognards account email, or you can contact Derek on the discord to clarify your BCP email.

o   Once the league starts you will receive a message to this email prompting you to upload your list. You do not have to upload a full list, you can change it each week, instead simply record your Faction and your Discord Name here. Make sure you put your discord username at the top of your army list upload so that your opponent can easily find you!

·       Post a battle report of your game in the Warhammer 40k channel on the discord and @Derek with your post! Pictures, fluffy narrative spin, what battle plans were going through your head during the game, if you had a good time, all valid types of things to post as your battle report!

If you paint any units during the course of the league, post them in the Hobby and Painting channel and @Derek with your post. Show off your stuff to the community and see what other folks are up to!

We will base our prizing on a two tier system with rewards dependant on participation:

·       Tier 1: Four League Games Played, No Battle Reports Submitted, No New Units Painted

·       Tier 2: Six League Games Played, Five Battle Reports Submitted, One+ New Units Painted to Battle Ready

While you won’t quite be able to play make-up games within the league itself, if you miss a week and want to recover some prize progress you are encouraged to schedule a pickup game through the discord at a Grognard’s location and post a battle report of that, you’ll get some ancillary credit for it that can lead to bumping up to tier one with enough of them!

Check in 9:30am-10am, Game Start 10am

Introductions:

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war. Welcome to the frontlines of the Warhammer 40k 2v2 Blind Doubles Team Tourney, where battles are fought not only for glory but also for the fate of entire civilizations. This Tourney will bring together champions from across the galaxy to compete in an epic struggle for supremacy.

Tournament Overview:

The Warhammer 40k 2v2 Tournament is a thrilling test of strategy, skill, and camaraderie. Players form teams and battle against each other in a series of matches, each bringing new challenges and opportunities for glory. Instead of the standard 1st, 2nd, and 3rd awards you see in many events we have unique Titles and Goals to strive for!

Team Formation:

Teams are formed through a randomized selection process, ensuring that every player has the opportunity to compete with and against different allies and adversaries. This fosters a dynamic and diverse playing environment, where teamwork and adaptability are essential.

Tournament Structure:

The Tournament is structured into three games, with each game featuring unique missions and scenarios to test the mettle of every team. As the Tournament progresses, teams will face increasingly difficult challenges, requiring them to devise cunning strategies and demonstrate exceptional tactical prowess.

Scoring System:

Points are awarded to players based on their performance in each round. These points will be attributed to both players on each team. Victories, strategic objectives, and battlefield achievements all contribute to a team's overall score. The players with the highest cumulative score at the end of the tournament will be crowned the champions of the Warhammer 40k Teams Tourney.

Each match will have a maximum score of 100 based on the following criteria:

Primary Objective Score

Secondary Objective Score

Additional Tertiary Bonus Scores (this replaces the battle ready points normally used)

Tertiary bonus scores are as follows

Linebreaker (end the game with a unit in your opponents’ deployment zone): 5 points

Slay the Warlord (destroying your opponents’ warlord): 5 points

On top of our team structure we will also have bonus award titles given out to players at the end of the event. Remember to record when you achieve these!

Player Structure:
Each player is to choose a faction and detachment for their army and build a 1000pt list following standard list building rules.

Match Structure:
At the start of each match each player will nominate a single character in their force to be their unit’s CHAMPION. Each TEAM will also choose a single character on their team to be their WARLORD for the purpose of objectives and additional scoring opportunities.

Titles and Awards as follows (In the case of a tie, the title will be given to the team with the highest score. No team can gain two Titles):

The Victors - Awarded to the Team with the highest score at the end of the event

The Bloodthirsty - Awarded to the Team with with the most first bloods

The Merciless - Awarded to the Team with the most champion kills

The Breaker - Awarded to the Team with the most Linebreaker finishes

The Unlucky - Awarded to the Team with the most champion deaths

The Best Frenemies - Awarded to the Team with the most favorite opponent votes
